The release of a specialized distribution, Tails 5.16 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System), has been announced. Tails is based on the Debian package base and is designed for anonymous internet browsing. It provides anonymous access through the Tor system and blocks all connections except traffic through the Tor network with its default packet filter. User data is encrypted for storage between launches to ensure privacy. Users can download the 1.2 GB ISO-image from this link to use Tails in a Live-mode.
The new version of Tor Browser, version 12.5.2, has been released. It is synchronized with the code base of Firefox 102.14.0 ESR, which includes 13 identified vulnerabilities. Along with the Tor Browser update, Thunderbird email client 102.14.0, Linux kernel 6.1.38, and AMD64-Microcode 3.20230719.1 packet have also been updated. As a security measure, the recommended password for Tails no longer allows the use of uppercase letters to simplify password selection. More about the Tor Browser update can be found here.
