Founder Microsoft Bill Gates compared to nudists citizens who refuse to wear masks during the coronavirus pandemic. He stated this during a joint podcast with an actress and comedian Rashida Jones Bill Gates and Rashida Jones Ask Big Questions.
He found the behavior of such people strange. “Are they nudists? You are asked to wear pants. Not a single American, or very few Americans say that this is something terrible,” the billionaire said.
Gates also explained why health experts did not immediately start advising the public to wear masks to prevent the spread of the virus. According to him, initially, experts were based on data on the contagiousness of other respiratory infections, such as influenza. However, later it turned out that the coronavirus can be transmitted not only during sneezing and coughing, but also during conversation between people.
In addition, the spread of SARS-CoV-2 is unusual due to asymptomatic carriers. While people with colds or flu tend to stay at home when they are contagious due to feeling unwell, people with COVID-19 can lead their normal lives, feeling healthy and unknowingly infecting others.
Currently, “the benefits of wearing a mask are very clear,” Gates concluded.
Earlier, the founder of Microsoft called the condition for returning to normal life after the coronavirus pandemic. It is about creating a highly effective and affordable vaccine for everyone. He also stated that the coronavirus pandemic will end in 2022 at best.
Prior to that, Gates named most of the coronavirus tests conducted in the United States completely useless. He rebuked the health authorities for taking too long for research, and a limited number of citizens having access to diagnostics.
