A girl from the American city of New Franklin, Missouri, saved her family from death in a fire, reports the Acron Beacon Journal.
On Sunday morning, November 8, seven-year-old Natalie Weisler woke up earlier than anyone else and went into the living room to watch TV with a cat named Ella. The girl heard a noise in the kitchen. “I went to check if a saucepan or pan had fallen and saw fire. It was scary,” she said.
Natalie did not panic and ran to wake her parents. “I screamed that a fire had started,” the girl said. After waking her parents up, she went to her 16-year-old brother’s room.
The girl’s father, a former firefighter Justin, tried unsuccessfully to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher. The family left the burning house and went out into the yard. Justin tried to enter the building again, but he had to evacuate through the bathroom window. He also injured his neck and back.
Firefighters arrived three minutes after the call and were able to quickly put out the fire. The damage amounted to about 80 thousand dollars (6.1 million rubles). Ella the cat tried to hide from the fire in the Weasler’s bedroom and died. Justin was taken to the hospital, where his wounds were treated and he was treated for inhalation of smoke.
Natalie’s school raised two thousand dollars (152.6 thousand rubles) for family expenses. The neighbors were also constantly offering help.
The city and local Red Cross will award Natalie for her calmness and heroism.
Earlier it was reported that a five-year-old child in the US state of Georgia saved his family from death in a fire, waking up in the middle of the night. When the rescuers arrived at the scene, they saw that all the residents of the building had time to go outside and no one was hurt.
