The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba spoke about the conditions for the country’s entry into NATO . According to him, the country can join the North Atlantic Alliance without participating in the NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP) program, reports Ukrinform .
Kuleba noted that participation in the MAP should only be achieved if it simplifies joining the alliance, but Ukraine is ready to discuss other options. The Minister stressed that the main thing is to get the tools and a clear deadline for accession.
“This is very important. Otherwise, we will wander in space, doing something that will not bring us closer to our goal,” Kuleba summed up.
September 17, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that joining the North Atlantic Alliance is the country’s strategic course, and called for intensifying reforms that would allow them to receive an invitation and join to the NATO Membership Action Plan.
The course of joining NATO and European Union is enshrined in the Ukrainian Constitution. The corresponding law was signed in February 2019 by the fifth president Petro Poroshenko .
