A family from Florida, USA, found a message in a bottle from Cuba, written during the deadly hurricane Irma. The UPI portal reports.
Katie Bodiford was walking with her family on the beach and found a plastic bottle with a note inside. The family had to cut open the vessel and carefully take out the soaked letter. It turned out that the note was written by a Cuban child three years ago during the longest Category 5 hurricane in 2017. “I sincerely hope that someone will find this letter,” the message said.
The young author wrote that he was going to throw the bottle into the ocean right during the cyclone. “It’s amazing that the child was so brave and was not afraid to approach the ocean despite the powerful gusts of wind,” said Bodyford.
The Americans posted a photo of the find on Facebook, hoping that the author of the message will see the picture.
Hurricane Irma hit Cuba, Puerto Rica, the Dominican Republic and the United States in early September 2017. 55 people became its victims.
Previously it was reported that a message sent by an American in a bottle had been traveling for 35 years water and was found not far from the place where he was thrown into the ocean. The sender was glad to know that her message had found a recipient, but she was surprised that in 35 years it had not sailed beyond her home state.
