Schoolgirl rescues her two-year-old nephew from a car in flames

A schoolgirl in the American city of Merced, California, rescued her nephew from a burning car. This was reported by ABC 30 TV channel.

On September 5, 12-year-old schoolgirl Alyna Hernandez saw her two-year-old nephew inside a car on fire in a burning garage. Without hesitation and without thinking about her own safety, Hernandez pulled the child out of the car.

The boy’s clothes were on fire. The American woman quickly poured water on it from a garden hose, without waiting for the arrival of firefighters.

The child was hospitalized with second-degree burns and, after receiving medical assistance, was released home. Hernandez’s mother said he quickly recovered from the incident.

Teacher Andrea Hogue learned about the girl’s brave actions after she noticed her hands were burned during a conference on the Zoom platform. On Monday, November 16, school officials and firefighters awarded the student. She was presented with a certificate, several books and a new scooter.

“I don’t think the child would have survived if she hadn’t come to the rescue, found him, and pulled him out of the car. Most adults I know wouldn’t have had the courage to go in and do what she did, “said Merced’s fire chief Ryan Paskin.

“We need such good news now. And she is the one who deserves to be known because she has a good heart,” said Hogue. “She will rush to save anyone, whenever she wants. I think she’s just that kind of person,” she said.
