A resident of the German city of Duisburg considers the amputation of a leg that she does not like the best decision in her life. The Daily Mirror writes about this.
At the age of 12, Lisa Scheer was diagnosed with bone cancer that affected her right leg. After removal of the tumor and two years of chemotherapy, the disease subsided, but the injured leg remained thin and weak. The girl tried to hide her from others and for 14 years walked with a cane.
“I hated my leg,” she admits. “I was depressed from the sight of it and from the pain it caused. I wanted to change something, but the doctors told me again and again that there was nothing to be done.” .
After talking with people who have lost their legs, Scheer thought about amputation. Relatives and friends tried to dissuade her, but she insisted on her own. At the request of the girl, her leg was cut off above the knee. The surgery solved her problems with depression and chronic pain. “I didn’t lose my leg, but found a new life,” she said.
In 2018 it was reported that the American model Lauren Wasser, several years lost her leg back due to an infection that entered the body through a hygienic tampon, survived the amputation of the second leg. Staphylococcus aureus was on the tampon, which caused an infectious toxic shock in her.
