Driver charged over driving at 1377 km/h

In the English county of Gloucestershire, the driver of an Audi A4 was accused of driving at a speed of 1377 kilometers per hour, according to The Sun.

52-year-old courier Simon Cooper received a speed violation report. Two weeks ago he was sent a document, according to which on May 26 this year he exceeded the speed allowed on the road and accelerated the car to 1377 kilometers per hour. Cooper clarifies that the top speed of his car is 209 kilometers per hour.

On that day, he took the motor from the customer’s house in Chepstow, Wales, and then drove a colleague to the city of Bristol. He allegedly violated the speed limit when returning to the warehouse in Newport. “I thought it was funny. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the accusation,” he says.

The police later explained that the issuing officer had accidentally added an extra digit. In reality, Cooper accelerated to 137 kilometers per hour. “I do not remember that I drove like that. It was so long ago. I do not admit my guilt,” – said Cooper. The police warned that the driver has 21 days to respond to the letter mailed to him on November 2.

Earlier it was reported that a resident of Chelyabinsk found a deduction from a bank card of eight thousand rubles for non-existent taxi rides in another city. The speed of one of them was 3000 kilometers per hour: the car allegedly covered the distance of 153 kilometers in three minutes.
