House of Lukashenko’s former rival searched

In the house of the ex-head of Belgazprombank and former rival Alexander Lukashenko in the presidential the race was searched. Tut.by reports about this on Wednesday, November 18.

“KGB officers with attesting witnesses arrived at about 11:30 am. The search was carried out by 10 people at about 3 hours. The district police officer seized the hunting weapon,” the former candidate’s press service said.

Babariko is in SIZO KGB since June 18, arrest extended until mid-December. All of his family’s real estate has been seized. The ex-banker is accused of withdrawing hundreds of millions of dollars abroad. He was not allowed to run in the presidential elections.

October 10 Lukashenko met with the detained oppositionists, including Babariko and members of the Opposition Coordination Council. The parties discussed the proposed changes to the Belarusian constitution.

The presidential elections in Belarus took place on August 9. The CEC stated that Lukashenka won 80 percent of the vote, and the main opposition candidate, his wife the arrested blogger Svetlana Tikhanovskaya – 10 percent. The official results have sparked massive protests across the country that have lasted more than three months.
