Maria Kolesnikova , leader of the Belarusian opposition and former head of the presidential candidate’s headquarters Belarus Viktor Babariko , will remain in SIZO in the city of Zhodino until January 8. This was reported by the press service of Babariko in its Telegram -channel.
The Partizansky District Court of Minsk refused to appeal against Kolesnikova’s defense against the decision to extend the opposition’s detention period.
November 6 it became known that the court refused to release her on bail and extended the arrest period until January 8, 2021. Kolesnikova was charged under part 3 of article 361 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (“Calls to action aimed at causing harm to national security”).
On September 7, Maria Kolesnikova was kidnapped by unknown persons. The next day, the Belarusian authorities stated that the oppositionist tried to leave the country and was detained for border with Ukraine. However, Kolesnikova herself claims that the Belarusian security forces were going to take her out of the country, and she I had to tear my passport to stay in the republic. The opposition’s defense is trying to initiate an investigation against the security forces who detained her.
