Differences in the actions of individual states and the lack of a unified approach to the fight against coronavirus have caused the United States to be harder than other countries hit by the pandemic. This was stated by the chief US infectious disease specialist Anthony Fauci , his words are quoted by CNN .
Fauci emphasized that the pandemic knows no borders between states, and therefore, to combat it, a certain sequence of measures was required. However, he said, the United States faced significant differences in the actions of individual states and a lack of a coordinated approach to containing the spread of the virus.
“There were many factors that led, unfortunately for us, to the United States being the worst-hit country in the world, but I believe that state divergence has become a major weakness in our fight against the pandemic.” – declared Fauci. The chief US infectious disease specialist stressed that the politicization of antiviral measures, in particular wearing masks, also negatively affected the country’s response to the pandemic.
According to the latest data, over 19 million people have been infected with the coronavirus in the United States. The country ranks first in the number of cases of COVID-19 in the world.
