Putin banned Security Council members from having dual citizenship and foreign accounts

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin banned members of Security Council have dual citizenship and accounts abroad. The corresponding presidential decree was published on Monday, December 28, on the official portal legal information.

The document introduces a number of changes to the regulations on the Russian Security Council and its staff.

According to the decree, the deputy chairman of the Security Council, his secretary and members of the Security Council (including permanent ones) can be Russians who “do not have citizenship (nationality) of a foreign state or a residence permit or other document confirming the right of permanent residence of a citizen of the Russian Federation on the territory of a foreign state.

Also, the deputy chairman, secretary and members of the Security Council (including permanent ones) are prohibited from opening and having accounts (deposits), keeping cash and valuables in “foreign banks located outside Russia”.

The document notes that the Security Council will propose to the President measures to maintain civil peace in the country, protect the sovereignty of Russia, its independence and state integrity.

Earlier in December, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that the chronic trouble of Russia is the raznotyk. During the meeting of the commission on the creation of a national system of protection against new infections, he asked Ministry of Health together with Ministry of Education and Science to develop an interdepartmental research plan to coordinate agendas for different departments .
