The man who broke his neck came out of a coma and, as soon as he could speak, asked for a beer and pizza. His story was told by The Sun.
In September, 43-year-old Englishman Chris Watkins (Chris Watkins) from the city of Pontypool had a rest a> with a group of friends in the Canary Islands. On September 4, he dived into the pool and soon swam to the surface, shouting: “I don’t feel anything, help me.” Friends at first thought that Watkins was fooling around, but, as it turned out, the Briton broke his neck. He was taken to the hospital and put into an artificial coma.
Friends and relatives of the victim organized a collection of money for the delivery of the Englishman to his homeland, they managed to collect the required amount. Watkins took a very long time to recover, doctors were afraid that he would never be able to walk again. However, the patient did not lose his positive attitude. As soon as Watkins was able to speak, he asked relatives to bring him pizza and beer. They didn’t bring him a drink, but the pizza was ordered straight to the hospital.
By the end of November, Watkins, contrary to doctors’ forecasts, began to take the first steps. However, after that, he contracted COVID-19, and rehabilitation therapy had to be interrupted. As soon as the Englishman recovered, he continued to exercise. The patient’s condition improved so much that he was sent home for Christmas and New Years.
Previously it was reported that in Taiwan a man came out of a two-month coma after mentioning favorite food – chicken fillet. The patient’s pulse quickened, and he himself began to regain consciousness. His vital signs have suddenly stabilized.
