Russia announces cooperation with China on coronavirus vaccines

Russia will cooperate with China in the framework of cooperation between manufacturers of vaccines against coronavirus. This was announced on the air Bloomberg TV director Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev .

Over the coming weeks, RDIF will announce a major vaccine partnership with a Chinese manufacturer. “We want to cooperate with other vaccines,” Dmitriev explained. He did not give other details of cooperation with Beijing.

December 21, the head of the Gamaleya Center announced about joint clinical trials of Sputnik V “and vaccines for the AstraZeneca coronavirus. He called the two technological platforms on which the drugs were created very similar. According to him, the combination of Sputnik V and AstraZeneca will create longer lasting protection against coronavirus. Also soon clinical trials of a joint vaccine will begin in three countries.

There are several COVID-19 vaccines in the world today. Thus, two vaccines are registered in Russia: Sputnik V and EpiVacCorona. On December 5, Moscow started vaccination against coronavirus with Sputnik V. The USA and Great Britain also began to inoculate the population with the drug companies Pfizer / BioNTech. British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has also announced the start of clinical trials for a combination of its AZD1222 vaccine.
