Dietitian from SberZdorovye Margarita Makukha shared with the Russians a way to avoid a hangover after the New Year. She told about this RIA Novosti .
So, she advised to pay attention at the New Year’s table to food rich in protein, fiber and fatty acids. “Avoid light snacks and choose (…) fatty sea fish, avocados, green vegetables and nuts from among the festive dishes,” Makuha urged. Meats, eggs, whole grains, vegetables and fruits that are high in fiber are also good for you. Such products can slow down the absorption of alcohol into the bloodstream, preventing intoxication, the nutritionist explained.
In the morning after the holiday, it is worth having breakfast with foods containing zinc, magnesium, potassium, B vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants. These elements are particularly found in scrambled eggs, protein shakes, banana and dried fruits.
Previously, a nutritionist Daria Rusakova noted that you can slow down drunkenness and ease a possible hangover by diluting or drinking some alcoholic drinks with water. Water is considered a good solvent, has a diuretic effect and removes harmful substances from the body. Water can be substituted for any other sugar-free drink, but drinking strong alcohol will be ineffective.
