Baby champagne can provoke alcoholism. The danger of the drink was described by RIA Novosti the chief freelance psychiatrist-narcologist of the Moscow Department of Health and Ministry of Health of Russia Evgeniy Brun .
According to him, primary learning and imprinting occurs at preschool age, so it will be difficult for a child who was given alcohol for children at an early age to explain the harm of alcoholic beverages. “We cannot predict for sure how this will affect the fate of this particular child. But (…) you must clearly understand that you are introducing him to alcoholism,” Brune explained.
The expert of the Ministry of Health recalled that about 10-20 percent of children are carriers of a genetic or congenital risk factor for alcoholism. In this regard, advertising of alcohol in the form of children’s champagne can lead to negative consequences. He urged not to mix adult and children’s traditions. “Do not make your children drinking companions, they will avenge you with their disease,” he said.
So, you can replace children’s champagne with soda like “Baikal”, “Buratino”, “Duchess” or sweet fruit drink. However, according to Brune, it is not worth drinking soda every day. “Pleasures should be rare, then they are real pleasures and a person can fully appreciate them,” he concluded.
Formerly a member of Public Chamber of Russia , head of Sober Russia Sultan Khamzaev urged to ban baby champagne. In his opinion, during New Year’s feasts, parents, often without realizing it, involve children in the process of drinking alcoholic beverages. The presence of children’s champagne at family events “blurs the line between what is permitted and what is not permitted” among minors, he noted.
