Russian regions leading in growth of crime have been

50 Russian regions recorded an increase in the number of crimes for 11 months of this year. This is stated in collection General Prosecutor’s Office on the state of crime in January-November 2020 year.

St. Petersburg (by 12.2 thousand), Moscow (by 4.9 thousand) and the Novosibirsk region (4 thousand) were named the regions-leaders in terms of the largest increase in the number of detected crimes. At the same time, the largest decrease in the number of crimes was recorded in the Voronezh region, North Ossetia and the Tyumen region.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the crime situation in Russia at the end of 11 months of 2020 remains relatively stable. The total number of reported crimes increased by 1.2 percent and reached almost 1.9 million.

Cities and urban-type settlements accounted for more than 80 percent of all crimes committed. Over the past three years, the overall crime rate has decreased, while for especially grave and grave crimes, on the contrary, increased.

Previously Russian blogger Ilya Varlamov made the top 10 most dangerous cities in Russia in 2020. The leader of the rating is the city of Kyzyl – the capital of the Tyva Republic. There are 35 murders per 100 thousand inhabitants. The second most dangerous city in Russia was Magadan, and the third – Ulan-Ude. Blagoveshchensk and Chelyabinsk are on the fourth and fifth lines. Also in the top ten most dangerous cities were the Mines of the Rostov region, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg and Moscow.
