A strong earthquake occurred near Zagreb, reports the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center in its Twitter -account.
The strength of the jolts reached 6.3 points on the Richter scale. The epicenter was 44 kilometers southeast of the Croatian capital. No casualties or damage were reported. The earthquake was followed by tremors of 3.1 magnitude near the city of Sisak in the central part of the country. In total, 12 earthquakes of various strengths occurred in the country in 31 hours.
According to the seismological center, the earthquake was the strongest in the country this year. Seismologists warn that tremors of this magnitude could cause significant damage near the epicenter.
In mid-December near Milan there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake lay at a depth of 56 kilometers and was located only six kilometers from the city. There were no casualties or destructions as a result of the earthquake. According to seismologists, the tremors have become the strongest over the past 500 years.
