A resident of the US city of Cleveland, Ohio, found out about pregnancy a few minutes before giving birth and could have died if she had not gone to the hospital. Her story was told by The Sun.
Ally Opfer, then 22 years old, claims there was no indication of pregnancy. “Yes, my periods were irregular, but it’s always like that for me,” she says. “I didn’t put on weight at all, I didn’t get tired, I didn’t feel any strange movements. My stomach was flat.” The girl did not notice anything and continued to go to cheerleading training, where she, as if nothing had happened, spun the wheel and did a backflip.
After returning from one of the workouts, Ellie’s pain increased, which she associated with the beginning of her period. The mother gave her a heating pad and pain reliever, but they did not help. The pain did not disappear the next day, moreover, then the girl’s appetite disappeared. 40 hours later, she was persuaded to take a pregnancy test, but it came back negative. Despite this, she decided to see a doctor.
At the hospital, she was suspected of kidney stones and sent for an ultrasound scan. “It was clear from the look on the ultrasound technician’s face that something was seriously wrong with me,” Ellie recalls. The specialist informed her that she was pregnant and was in labor. “I was told that I have severe preeclampsia,” the girl says. “That I have such high blood pressure that I am on the verge of a stroke. And if I arrived at the hospital a few minutes later, I could die.”
30 minutes later, her son was born. The child weighed 3.4 kilograms and was healthy. According to Opfer, this was the first boy born to her family in 43 years.
Previously it was reported that a resident of the English city of Wigan, Greater Manchester, did not know that she was expecting a child, until she suddenly began labor. Tasha Davis, 28, did not notice a single sign of pregnancy. She was not sick in the morning, her period was not interrupted, and she blamed quarantine for her weight gain.
