Belarus announced start of vaccination with Russian drug “Sputnik V”

The Ministry of Health of Belarus announced the beginning of vaccination of the population with the Russian drug against the coronavirus Sputnik V. reported on the agency’s website.

The first batch of vaccine arrived in Belarus on December 29th.

Minister Dmitry Pinevich noted that the first to be vaccinated will be medical workers, teachers and other specialists who have to contact people a lot. Vaccination will be voluntary.

“We are grateful to the Russian side for active interaction and strategic cooperation in resolving this issue,” Pinevich emphasized.

Earlier, the Russian Ambassador to Minsk Dmitry Mezentsev claimed that the first batches of the drug will arrive in Belarus for vaccination at the beginning of 2021.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he would not be vaccinated against coronavirus, since he belongs to the category of skeptics.
