Rospotrebnadzor assessed impact of Russian vaccine against COVID-19 on offspring

The EpiVacCorona coronavirus vaccine does not adversely affect offspring. This was stated in the press service Rospotrebnadzor , RIA Novosti .

This result was shown by preclinical tests on sexually mature male and female rats, as well as on pregnant females, completed on December 15. The vaccine administered to the animals did not reduce fertility rates, nor did it affect subsequent pregnancies, mortality of offspring immediately after birth, and their number.

“EpiVacCorona” did not cause disturbances in the physical development of the offspring and did not affect its survival. Rospotrebnadzor summarized that the tests give the right to assert that the drug has no effect on the generative function of the body.

Earlier in the center named after Gamaleya, where the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine was developed said about the harmlessness of the drug for reproductive health. The tests, according to the director of the center, Alexander Gintsburg, were carried out on animals – mice and rabbits.
