Russian spending on New Year skyrocketed

On New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Eve, acquiring clients Sberbank made 94 million operations for 70 billion rubles. This is 20 percent more than at the end of 2020, writes RBC. The calculations were carried out from December 31 to 9:00 on January 1.

The number of transactions has skyrocketed by 24 percent. The number of purchases via the Internet increased by 45 percent compared to last year (to 11.6 million transactions). The growth in the number of remittances amounted to 8.8 percent. Also, the bank’s clients made over 500 thousand orders for food delivery via the Internet, which is 3.3 times more than in 2020.

Earlier it was reported that in 2021 the Russians decided to save on food and give up bad eating habits. About a third of respondents (31 percent) are going to spend less money on food.

More than two-thirds of the respondents dream that more discount goods will appear in stores. Another 41 percent hope that prices for all products will come down. A similar number of respondents want retailers to start using recyclable packaging and bags.
