58 people were killed in an attack by extremists in West Africa. This was reported by RIA Novosti citing a local military source.

According to the source, unidentified armed people attacked a village in the western part of Niger, located on the border with Mali. It is noted that militants have recently threatened local residents with reprisals if they do not support extremist groups.

Earlier it was reported that more than 100 civilians were killed in Ethiopia in during the bloody massacre that local militants staged in the Metekel zone of the Benishangul-Gumuz region in the west of the African country. As the Daily Mail notes, terrorists armed with firearms, knives, as well as bows and arrows, attacked the villagers of Bekoji early in the morning. The massacre of the civilian population continued until noon, and the attackers also set fire to houses and crops.
