People who are prone to being overweight and do not control their diet during the New Year holidays risk gaining up to 10 kilograms. This group was named in a conversation with RIA Novosti nutritionist Inna Pichugina.
She clarified that weight gain is a very individual process that depends on the initial body weight and metabolic characteristics. However, even healthy people with normal metabolism can get problems with the gastrointestinal tract, liver and blood vessels due to uncontrolled eating.
“It is important to use everything in moderation here. If you want to eat a bun or a piece of cake, then it should not be all at once, systemically and in large pieces. You will feel heaviness, discomfort and flatulence in your stomach,” the nutritionist warned.
Physician Elena Tikhomirova, in turn, added that when overeating, a person can gain 200-300 grams of pure fat per day. According to her, on New Year’s holidays, you can allow 2-3 rests from proper nutrition, but then it will take a long time to recover. Moreover, this period is most difficult for people who have a predisposition to obesity.
Formerly a nutritionist, associate professor of the Faculty of Medicine, St. Petersburg State University Andrey Bobrovsky revealed several ways to help avoid overeating for the New Year. Firstly, it is better to wear tight clothes at the feast, which will interfere with overeating. Secondly, it is worth finding a like-minded person at the table who will not force you to eat and drink. Thirdly, you need to use the reasons to get up from the New Year’s table: for example, play with the children and help the owners.
