Deliveries via the Balkan gas pipeline, which transports Turkish Stream gas, is safer, cheaper and more promising for Serbia. Such advantages were named by regional energy expert Elitsa Putnikovich in a conversation with RIA Novosti .
She noted that Serbia received an alternative direction of gas supply, which does not depend on Ukraine. “The new direction is also cheaper, because in previous years Hungary demanded up to $ 70 for the transport of one thousand cubic meters of gas, and now, through Bulgaria, the price will be $ 12-14 for the transit of one thousand cubic meters,” the expert added.
In addition, she noted a more favorable purchase price – $ 155 per thousand cubic meters – and the fact that Serbia, becoming a transit country, can develop its gas sector.
