For the entire time of the pandemic in the UK, more than 2,496,204 people were detected, 73,622 people died.
On December 14, UK Health Minister Matthew Hancock announced that a new SARS-CoV-2 strain has been identified in the country, which is spreading faster than the original form. The virus is more easily transmitted from person to person and therefore more contagious, he said.
