Aktobe Copper Company (AMK LLP) will facilitate a full and objective investigation of the accident at the Vesenne-Aralchinsky mine in the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is stated in the official message of the company.
An accident occurred during blasting operations on the evening of December 30, 2020. As a result, four AMK employees died – a mining foreman, two explosives and a driver. The preliminary cause of death is carbon monoxide poisoning. Work at the mine has been halted and personnel have been brought to the surface.
To clarify the circumstances of the incident, representatives of operational services, supervisory agencies, district and regional akimats arrived at the mine.
“The families of the victims will receive assistance. We sincerely condole with the families and friends of our colleagues. This is a tragedy for all of us,” the AMK said in a statement.
The Vesenne-Aralchinsky underground mine is located in the Khromtau district of the Aktobe region at the copper-zinc ore deposit of the same name. Commissioned in 2019. The design capacity of mining is 500 thousand tons of ore per year. Extraction is carried out in an economic way. More than 300 people are employed at the facility.
