The President of Russia Vladimir Putin gave instructions to support disabled people following a meeting with them and with representatives of public organizations on December 3, informs Kremlin press service .
So, the presidential administration was instructed to submit proposals on rewarding disabled people – representatives of creative professions and encouraging them for outstanding achievements. Putin instructed the government at the same time, in particular, to take measures to prevent the abolition of mandatory requirements for ensuring the accessibility of facilities and services for persons with disabilities, to ensure the participation of representatives of all-Russian public associations of persons with disabilities in the work of subcommissions and working groups of the government commission on administrative reform, to develop with the participation of All-Russian public associations of disabled people and approve a simplified procedure for the initial examination of persons in order to establish disability.
In addition, by March 1, the Cabinet of Ministers must submit proposals for additional support for Russian manufacturers of electric wheelchairs, lifting devices and other innovative technical means for the rehabilitation of disabled people; to provide in the state program “Accessible Environment” for the period up to 2025, measures aimed at a gradual increase in the volume of sign language translation and subtitling of television programs aired on all-Russian compulsory public television channels; develop, with the participation of the All-Russian Society of the Deaf, and submit proposals for increasing the volume of services related to Russian sign language translation.
Also, by May 1, a procedure should be developed for issuing certificates to the winners of the championships in professional skills among disabled people and persons with disabilities “Abilympix”, giving them the right to compensation for expenses associated with obtaining additional vocational education or the acquisition of specialized technical rehabilitation equipment, necessary for the implementation of professional (labor) activities.
In addition, the document includes a number of instructions aimed at making the life of citizens with disabilities easier and supporting their endeavors in professional activity and sports.
