The Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory Alexander Osipov was hospitalized in Chita with coronavirus, reported on the official portal of Transbaikalia.
The 51-year-old politician felt unwell during the New Year holidays, passed the COVID-19 test and received a positive result, after which he isolated himself. At the insistence of the doctors, he was admitted to the hospital on January 4.
The governor’s press service noted that Osipov remains in touch with colleagues. During his treatment, Andrei Kefer, first deputy chairman of the regional government, was appointed acting governor.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, many heads of Russian regions have been transferred. Among them is the governor of the Ulyanovsk region Sergey Morozov , Governor of the Pskov Region Mikhail Vedernikov , Governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov and others.
