After one of the busiest New Year’s Eve in France, the Aubiers district (in the north of the city), where cars and the post office had been set on fire under a thousand fireworks, was the scene of a shooting on the second evening of this new year.
According to the first elements collected on the spot and confirmed by the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office, shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday, a group of young people was on the public road downstairs, despite the curfew. A youngster who had just turned 16 fell the first. Found on the public highway, he did not survive his cervical spine injuries. Three other teenagers who were shot in the biceps, under the heart or in the knee managed to escape and take refuge on the third and fifth floors of one of the buildings. A fourth man, shot in the calf, presented to the emergency room. Their vital prognosis would not be engaged.

It is currently difficult to determine the circumstances of the tragedy. The hearings of witnesses and victims are linked and many videos are being used. Investigators from the judicial police must sort through the photos and rumors that immediately circulated on social networks. There is no evidence that these young people in particular were targeted. According to an acquaintance of the deceased’s family, for which a vigil was organized on Sunday evening in the neighborhood, they were even “in the wrong place at the wrong time”.
