The situation with the coronavirus in Russia is likely to stabilize by the end of February. Such terms in an interview with RIA Novosti were named by an infectious disease specialist Evgeny Timakov .
According to the expert, after the New Year holidays in the country there will be an increase in the incidence. “There will now be an increase in the incidence after the first five days of the holidays in a week, as people will be in contact,” he explained.
However, then the situation will begin to stabilize, the specialist said. Moreover, in Moscow this will happen earlier – by the end of January, Timakov predicted.
He also stressed that while the situation with the spread of infection in the country remains tense, and urged Russians not to relax.
Last December, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova stated that an improvement in the epidemiological situation in Russia can be expected by spring. She noted that a sufficient number of citizens have already been ill with COVID-19 and acquired natural immunity. In addition, vaccination of certain population groups began in December.
