More than four million Americans have begun to vaccinate against the coronavirus. This is reported on the website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
4.2 million US residents received their first injection of two-component vaccines from Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna. Most of the inhabitants took root in California (412 thousand), Texas (337 thousand) and Florida (246 thousand), and least of all – in Wyoming (7.5 thousand) and the District of Columbia (15 thousand). More than 13 million doses of vaccines have been distributed throughout the United States.
Earlier it was reported that in the USA there were problems with vaccination of the population against coronavirus : The vaccination campaign is significantly behind schedule due to logistics. The authorities originally intended to vaccinate 20 million Americans by the end of 2020. For example, in Florida, doctors used less than a quarter of the available doses. In Puerto Rico, shipments were cut off by employees leaving for Christmas. In California, doctors have reported a drug shortage.
On December 13, the leadership of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approved an emergency vaccine from BioNTech and Pfizer in the United States. The first person to receive the vaccine from BioNTech and Pfizer in the United States was New York nurse Sandra Lindsay, who has worked with COVID-19 patients for the past ten months. Then on December 19, the US authorities approved the second vaccine against coronavirus, Moderna, for use in the country.
