Citizens of Russia and Ukraine, released in Libya, spoke about the difficult conditions of their arrest. Their words are conveyed by RIA Novosti and TASS .
According to crew member Viktor Bodryaga, the team was in captivity for ten days, and the place where they were placed was a military base. The sailors slept on the floor, interrogated them, blindfolded them, and one night they tied them up and kept them immobilized for about 12 hours. “We were forced to constantly be in the same position,” he explained.
After requests from the translator, the conditions were relaxed. Bodryaga added that the sailors did not know until the last moment where they were being taken. “We thought they were being taken to prison. Until we saw the plane,” the sailor said, thanking the Russian authorities for the release.
Another member of the team, Dimitri Dimitriadi, noted that the sailors were on a private yacht and “just passed by.” However, according to him, they were “captured” without explanation.
The release of Russians and Ukrainians from Libyan captivity it became known earlier. The Government of National Accord (GNA) of Libya denied the fact of abduction and stated that their authorities arrested for violating the water border. On January 3, the sailors arrived in Moscow.
