The President of Russia Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russians on Orthodox Christmas. This was reported by RIA Novosti .
“The Lord’s love for a person is not that he fulfills all our requests and wishes, but that he allows us to pray for him and for us and hope for the best. This hope, and sometimes the expectation of a miracle, is that very a star that illuminates our path in life and supports us at the most difficult stages, “said the head of state after the festive divine service in the church of St. Nicholas on Lipno Island in the Novgorod region, where he arrived the day before.
Answering the question about the reasons for the difficult from a religious point of view of situations in the world, Vladimir Putin advised to contact the clergy.
Earlier, Putin arrived at the Church of St. Nicholas on Lipno Island – an Orthodox church of the end XIII century and a monument of Novgorod architecture. The temple is located on the eastern shore of Lake Ilmen, 8 kilometers south of Veliky Novgorod. The head of state visited this church in 2016.
In December, the Kremlin announced Putin’s traditional trip to one of Russia’s regions for Christmas, without specifying where exactly the head of state would go. Later, the president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov reported that the Kremlin will timely inform about the plans of the head of state Vladimir Putin for Christmas.
