The leader of the Belarusian opposition, a former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya has been ill with COVID -19. The press secretary of Tikhanovskaya Anna Krasulina told Interfax-West about this.
According to her, Tikhanovskaya suffered the disease “quite easily.” “Now everything is completely in order, she starts work,” added Krasulina.
In October 2020, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya went to self-isolation after meeting with the head Ministry of Foreign Affairs Slovenia by Angé Logar, who was found to have COVID-19. Then the disease was not confirmed. Now Tikhanovskaya is located in Lithuania. In December, she began negotiations with representatives of the European Union on the supply of vaccines against coronavirus to Belarus.
Presidential elections were held in Belarus on August 9, 2020. CEC stated that the leader of the republic Alexander Lukashenko got 80 percent of the vote, and Tikhanovskaya – 10 percent. This sparked massive protests that have lasted for six months.
