The President of Russia Vladimir Putin said that it is important not only to dissuade a woman, wanting to have an abortion, but also to create conditions for helping in the upbringing and provision of the child. He spoke about this during a meeting on social issues in the videoconference mode, reports RIA Novosti .
This is how the Russian leader responded to the speech of the head of the working group of the State Council of Russia in the direction of “Social Policy”, the Governor of the Novgorod Region Andrey Nikitin , who said that the region managed to increase the percentage of abortion refusals – from 9 to 12 percent. He added that this figure could rise.
According to Putin, it is important to just persuade a woman not to have an abortion, but “more importantly, it is necessary to create conditions to help a woman and a family raise a child, put him on his feet, give him the opportunity to get a good education, provide housing.” /
