Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov spoke about his preference between Westerners and Slavophiles. In his opinion, Russia as an “adult country” must find a balance between both positions. He told about this in an interview with the host of “Russia 1” Vladimir Soloviev . A recording of their conversation was posted on YouTube -channel “Soloviev LIVE”.
Thus, he answered the question of why Russia continues to try to improve relations with Western countries. “Always, from time immemorial, we have had Westernizers and Slavophiles. There have always been those who said that we should be only and only part of the Western community, and there were those who insisted on the exclusive path of the Russians,” Peskov admitted.
Then Soloviev clarified which side the press secretary takes. According to the latter, he considers it right to adhere to a neutral position: simultaneously follow his own path and build relations with the West. To be offended by partners, Peskov believes, is not worth it, since “they carry water to the offended.”
Earlier, the press secretary told that a world war is impossible while there is nuclear parity saves the world. He said that Moscow “is capable of bearing the burden of responsibility in the international arena and taking a responsible position.”
