The results of the parliamentary elections were announced in Kazakhstan. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Konstantin Petrov.
The Nur-Otan party, headed by the former President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, won the elections. She won 71.09 percent of the vote and received 76 mandates in the majilis of the Kazakh parliament. The 7% barrier was also overcome by the Ak Zhol (Light Path) party with 10.95 percent of the vote and the People’s Party of Kazakhstan with 9.1 percent of the vote, which received 12 and 10 seats respectively in the lower house of parliament.
Earlier, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, said that repressive measures would not be taken against those who intend to protest over the election of deputies of the lower house of parliament. According to him, the security forces will act in accordance with the law.
On January 10, the regular elections of deputies of the Mazhilis were held in Kazakhstan, in which five parties took part. To get into parliament, you need to overcome the seven percent barrier. To form the composition of the Mazhilis, at least two parties must be elected.
