Elevator with prisoners collapsed in Russian colony for former security officials

In correctional colony No. 13 in Nizhniy Tagil for former security officials, an elevator with prisoners fell. This is reported by E1 with reference to the main department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Sverdlovsk region.

An emergency occurred in the woodworking workshop. Two inmates decided to go up to the second floor using a cargo lift that was decommissioned last year. As a result, during the ascent, the cable broke and the platform collapsed to the ground.

Victims with fractures were taken to the city hospital. Later, they will be further treated in the prison hospital.

In March 2020, a paddy wagon with prisoners overturned on the road in Yakutia. There were nine convicts in the truck, accompanied by six officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service, who transported the prisoners to the correctional colonies of the republic. As a result of the road accident, two guards were injured and received minor or moderate injuries.
