A resident of Spain considered the snowfall to be fake: she recorded a video where she tried to prove the artificial origin of the precipitation. The local newspaper Semana writes about this.
On the recording, a certain Spanish woman brought a lighter to a handful of snow and showed that it turns black, but does not melt. The experimenter stated that the mass smelled like burnt plastic. In her opinion, this indicates that all the snow that fell with Philomena’s storm is not real. “This stuff that was sent to us is pure plastic. We are deceived in everything,” – said the author of the video.
It is noted that the Spaniards are still actively discussing the video published a few days ago. Some of them joke that a woman should deny the “reality of fire”, not snow.
The video was also commented by biologist Alvaro Bayon: he explained that due to impurities that are released in a lighter when butane or gasoline burns, soot is formed. It settles on the substance if a lighter is brought too close to it, which creates a “burnt plastic effect”.
Tempest “Philomena” began in Spain on January 9th. As a result, the country experiences heavy snowfalls, rains, and gusts of wind. Four people became victims of bad weather.
