President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko believes that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is his only friend. He stated this on the air of the program “Characters” on the TV channel “Russia 1”.
Lukashenka said that Putin this year confirmed a true friendship, and called him a friend of the entire Belarusian people.
Answering the question of the program host Naila Asker-zadeh about whether he has other friends, the President of Belarus replied that he thought about it many times. “I come to the conclusion that probably not,” Lukashenka said.
The head of state also added that he has many opponents who may eventually become enemies.
Earlier, Lukashenka said that his fellow citizens should “take their heads in their hands” and think about the future for God’s sake, who warns them about it. He threatened the Belarusians with the loss of everything that they have: “We will return to the way the previous generations lived. After 1917, after the October Revolution, before it.”
Presidential elections were held in Belarus on August 9, 2020. The CEC announced that Lukashenka won 80 percent of the vote, while opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya got 10 percent. Residents of the country were dissatisfied with the results, which caused massive protests that have lasted for six months.
