Relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia have been allied for 30 years, says presidential candidate Sadyr Japarov. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti on Sunday, January 10.
“This is our most important strategic partner,” said Japarov. If he wins the elections, he intends to “continue this”.
On January 10, early presidential elections and a referendum to determine the form of government are held in Kyrgyzstan. Zhaparov has already voted and said he does not know what the outcome of the election will be.
On October 15, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov resigned against the backdrop of massive protests that began in the country after the parliamentary elections. Until November 2020, the duties of the head of state were performed by Japarov, who was released from custody by the protesters.
