This is the second vaccine against Covid-19 officially authorized in France. After the one that was developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, the High Authority for Health (HAS) on Friday, January 8 approved the use of Moderna’s vaccine.

This vaccine “can be used in people over 18 years and over, including the oldest because of its effectiveness and its overall satisfactory tolerance profile, “said the HAS. This vaccine, which received marketing authorization from the European Union on Wednesday, thus becomes the second to be used in France after that of BioNTech / Pfizer, which had the green light from HAS on December 24.

Already approved in Canada, the United States and Israel, Moderna’s formula has similarities with that of Pfizer and BioNTech: it is administered in two injections, is based on the innovative technology of Messenger RNA and is, according to clinical trials, 94.1% effective (95% for Pfizer-BioNTech).
