US President-elect Joe Biden is about to appoint former intelligence officer Andreu Kendall -Taylor Advisor for Russia, reports The Washington Post, citing a statement from Biden’s team.
According to representatives of the democrat, a separate post dedicated to Russian issues will again appear in the National Security Council (SNB) at the White House. Officially, the position will be named Director for Russia and Central Asia.
It is noted that Kendall-Taylor is responsible for the Russian direction in the Biden team. She served as a senior intelligence officer and was an analyst at CIA .
Previously Jake Sullivan , whom Joe Biden chose as his national security adviser , declared that the new the US administration plans to negotiate with Russia on the extension of the Treaty on Measures to Further Reduce and Limit Strategic Offensive Arms (START). According to him, even at the height of the Cold War, the countries had areas for cooperation, primarily the issues of arms control and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
