The dead woman, Wednesday, January 6, after participating in the coup in the precincts of Congress was shot by police on Capitol Hill, the Washington Police Chief announced.
A strong supporter of President Donald Trump, her name was Ashli Babbitt and lived in the San Diego area of southern California, US media reported. She was one of a group of protesters who wreaked havoc on Capitol Hill as elected officials began certification of Democrat Joe Biden’s victory.
“Uniformed Capitol Police officers confronted them and, at one point, one of them used his service weapon “and hit her, Chief Robert Contee told a press conference. She was pronounced dead after being transferred to hospital. An internal investigation has been opened into this “tragic event”, he added.
