Russian MP caught red-handed while stealing a rail

In the Leningrad region, the current deputy was fined 10 thousand rubles after he was caught red-handed stealing a rail. This is reported on the website of the North-West Directorate Investigative Committee .

According to the IC, the Russian was detained on December 7 with a friend. It was established that on that day the men on the stretch of the Lebyazhye – Krasnoflotsk stations picked up the rail with an automobile cable, dragged it away and began to saw it into pieces with gas-cutting equipment. They were found by police patrolling the area. According to Russian Railways, the total cost of the stolen property would be about 15 thousand rubles.

A criminal case was opened against the deputy under part 3 of article 30, paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 158 of the Criminal Code (“Attempted theft committed by a group of persons by prior agreement”). He confessed, helped to establish the circumstances of the incident, officially apologized to Russian Railways and sent a donation to one from orphanages.

The Lomonosov Court of St. Petersburg terminated the criminal case against the deputy and imposed a fine on him, writes Interfax a >. The materials of the case against the second defendant were separated into a separate proceeding.

According to the agency, the deputy’s name is Yevgeny Budaev, he is a member of United Russia a>. Using stolen rails, Budaev wanted to build a road for a trolley to his sawmill – he allegedly considered them ownerless, writes RIA Novosti citing the media.
