By the time the coronavirus reaches its goal and becomes endemic, the epidemiological situation around the world will stabilize. This is how the situation was described by the Russian virologist, Doctor of Biological Sciences Alexey Agranovsky , reports “Moscow 24 “.
Agranovsky explained that even before the advent of SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2, there were four endemic coronaviruses common to humans. Such viruses caused mild ailments, seasonal SARS, which were not paid much attention to, he said.
According to the virologist, the coronavirus will gradually turn into the same endemic and will cease to be something frightening, including after vaccination and quality treatment of severe cases have been established. Agranovsky believes that this will take about a year.
Previously, representatives of World Health Organization (WHO) stated that the goal of SARS-CoV-2 is to become endemic, like other coronaviruses. In their opinion, the virus will continue to mutate as it multiplies in human cells, especially where it spreads most intensively. Good health will help save lives.
Experts also believe that the virus, having become endemic, will remain a threat, but at a very low level within the framework of effective global vaccination.
