Russians began to keep savings in less

The share of those who keep their savings in rubles dropped to 87 percent over the year (compared to 94 percent in 2019). This is evidenced by data of the Sberbank Asset Management survey.

19 percent of respondents prefer to invest part of their money in foreign currency. The Russians understand that deposits in dollars and euros have a low yield, but they consider them as a defensive option, experts say. About 11 percent of those surveyed prefer to keep their savings in dollars.

During the year, the Belarusian ruble dropped out of the leading five, savings in Swiss francs and British pounds increased, and decreased in yuan. They began to invest less in this currency due to the fact that China has become a hotbed of the spread of coronavirus. According to the survey, 61 percent of Russian families save money.

Earlier, Goldman Sachs analysts recognized the ruble as the best currency in terms of profitability in 2021 … At the same time, the dollar, according to their forecasts, will continue to fall.
