A resident of the American state of Virginia accidentally found a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro – Hugger Orange – stolen from him 17 years ago. The information portal UPI writes about this.
Tommy Cook said that his orange Camaro was stolen from a car repair shop in 2003. The man reported the hijacking to the county police station Prince William and regularly updated the status to the patrolmen did not stop searching. “I knew that the day would come when I would return the car,” the American stressed.
In 2020, a friend asked Cook to help him buy a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro. When the friends arrived at the auto center, Cook’s attention was drawn to a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro in the garage in green. The seller explained that the car was originally orange, but it was repainted.
Cook looked at the vehicle identification number on the dashboard and suspected something was wrong. Then he checked the unique code of the car under the hood and found that the numbers matched the number of his missing car. The American contacted the police and he soon got his car back.
According to Cook, since the theft, the car has been repeatedly improved and updated parts, in particular, the car has a more powerful engine. For 17 years, the Chevrolet Camaro has changed four owners, the man said. “People invested money in it, – he stressed. – Now it is better than on the day of theft. True, now it is ugly green.”
