The Russians spoke about the importance of the questions that they were asked at job interviews and assessed their importance for employment, reports TASS citing the hh.ru study.
The majority of respondents (82 percent) admitted that they were asked about marital status, 9 percent of applicants asked about the sign of the zodiac, and 7 percent about their appearance. 3 percent were interested in sexual orientation, and 7 percent were interested in political views. The survey showed that 28 study participants are confident that their answers influenced the outcome of the interview. That being said, 35 percent agreed that it was acceptable to ask a question about the zodiac sign. The poll was conducted at the end of December and was attended by 1,641 people.
In October 2020, a similar study was conducted by the Rabota.ru service. It turned out that the appearance of applicants plays a big role for 74 percent of employers, at the same time they emphasize that the skills of potential employees are more important to them.
Many employers believe in astrology: every sixth business owner in Russia ( 16 percent) draws attention to the applicant’s zodiac sign. In companies with more than a hundred employees, 100 percent of employers said that the zodiac sign is a necessary parameter when hiring.
